Mildred "Millie" Elizabeth Blanchard of Golden City, Missouri passed away at 8:08 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood, Missouri. She was born October 17, 1924 to Matha Eugene and Flossie (Funk) Dalton in Dade County, Missouri. Millie shared 92 years, 5 months and 18 days with us.
Millie grew up in the Golden City area and graduated with the Golden City High School Class of 1943. After graduation she spent time in Springfield, Missouri learning to teletype, then she worked across the country to California with two jobs in Kansas. While in California she married Ted Wiley Blanchard on December 24, 1946 in Redlands, California. Millie worked as a radio dispatcher for the county of Sacramento, after 40 years they retired and moved back to the Golden City, Missouri area in 1979. They moved to Carthage, Missouri in 1996 and then in 2012 to Enid, Oklahoma. After Millie entered a nursing home in Enid in 2014, Ted decided to move her to Lamar, Missouri to an area nursing home. Then in 2016 she was moved to her final location in Lockwood where Ted could stay at the same location.
Millie was a member of the Carthage Train Crew Shrine Ladies and also served as president. She also was a member of the First Christian Church in Golden City. Millie had many interests including: collecting coins and rocks, crocheting, eating milk chocolate, working on jigsaw and word search puzzles and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Joyce Arelene (Blanchard) King, her son Dale Ted Blanchard, granddaughter Melissa Jones and brothers Eugene and Kenneth Dalton.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Blanchard, Lockwood, Missouri, her daughter Terresa June (Clifford) Harris, Princeton, Indiana, her sister Geneva Rogers, Lockwood, MO, her grandchildren James Harris and Janet (David) Peck and 8 great-grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends will cherish the memory of this loving and caring woman.
